Site safety is top priority

Main contractor, Beard is continuing to work on the Quadrangle site, while closely observing safety guidelines developed by the Construction Leadership Council to maintain social distancing and protect site workers.

A number of important adjustments have been made to operating procedures and the layout of the site.

Access points to the site have been altered so that the entrance and exit are now one way only and internal staircases have also been designated as either up or down to avoid the need for workers to pass each other on the stairs. There are now also three separate canteens on site enabling workers to refuel and relax while preserving social distancing.

Additional hand washing facilities have been installed, with the taps operated by using knees rather than hands.

Rooftop restaurant

One of the key milestones was to complete the steel frame on the roof which will form the restaurant. This has now been finished in line with the schedule. The metal roof deck has also been installed to the frame and the roof installation has begun to the rooftop restaurant, with curtain walling commencing in early June.

Work has also continued in the large open office zones, with lights installed and fitted on Level 1, mechanical and engineering work on Level 4 and the installation of raised access floors on Levels 2 and 3.

Where necessary, materials are also being sourced from alternative suppliers which has a beneficial knock-on effect for local firms and helps keep work going.
