Endsleigh Insurance moves Cheltenham HQ to the Quadrangle
Endsleigh Insurance – the specialist education, not-for-profit and student insurance broker – has relocated to a new headquarters as part of a drive to recruit and retain the best industry talent.
The company is now based at a new office in the refurbished Quadrangle building on the corner of Imperial Square and Promenade in the heart of Cheltenham, having spent the last 14 years on Shurdington Road on the outskirts of the spa town. The new site has huge significance for the firm, as it was also the location of Endsleigh’s first Cheltenham branch between 2001 and 2008.
The move is a strategic development for the future of the Endsleigh business, which recently created a new commercial roadmap that involves doubling down on three key sectors – education, not-for-profit and university students.
It is hoped that the Quadrangle office – which will house Endsleigh’s existing workforce of 110 people and becomes a first Cheltenham base for its parent company, Howden – will be a big draw for existing and prospective employees.
Alison Meckiffe, CEO of Endsleigh Insurance, explains: “As a business, we have major growth ambitions and plan to become a top three broker across all of our specialist markets. To achieve that, we need to attract the best talent not only from across Cheltenham and Gloucestershire, but also across the industry more broadly.
“The Quadrangle is a large step towards realising those ambitions. It is in the centre of a brilliant town and has excellent transport links. We’re very excited about the move.”
Another advantage of the new Quadrangle location is the opportunities it offers for Endsleigh to deliver on its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. Endsleigh’s “three E” approach of education, enterprise and environment will become stronger thanks to initiatives such as:
• A partnership with Cheltenham charity, Winston’s Wish, which will involve Endsleigh staff fundraising and volunteering for the organisation
• A new employee app, developed by Endsleigh, called Grow Your Future, which rewards colleagues for being environmentally-friendly and promotes green travel, energy conservation and recycling
• A refreshed summer internship scheme, with intake from local universities that allows students to gain valuable experience in a working environment
• The Quadrangle boasts electric vehicle charge points, solar panels and rainwater harvesting technology
Zoe Toomey, Head of People for Endsleigh Insurance, says: “We are a people-first company, and needed a new office location to match that outlook. In many ways, we’ve aimed for our new Quadrangle space to be more than just an office: we want it to be a Destination for connection, creativity, collaboration and social engagement and which will be underpinned by a way of working together that will enable us to drive ambitious growth. We’re very confident it will be a big success with our existing workforce and new recruits.
“Now is the time to join our growing business. Endsleigh is currently hiring for a number of positions, including Bid Managers, Account Handlers and Account Executives. Anyone interested in applying for roles can email recruitment@endsleigh.co.uk.”
Tim Smith, Partner at John Ryde Commercial, who acted on behalf of the Quadrangle’s landlord, adds: “We’re very excited to welcome Endsleigh as the newest tenant to the Quadrangle. As a well-known and established Cheltenham employer, it’s great that they’ve chosen the refurbished building as their new home. With both Savills and iPipeline in their new locations, there is a diverse and thriving business community being built.
“There has also been lots of interest in the remaining office space and as soon as we’re able to announce more tenants, we will. Its popularity is testament to the Quadrangle’s appeal as a modern office location in a convenient town-centre location.”
